BANSKO

Bansko is the fastest growing ski resort in Eastern Europe. It is currently the best one offering great fun and relaxation opportunities and wonderful skiing conditions. The exciting mixture of well prepared ski tracks, modern lift infrastructure, many attractions, beautiful nature and warm hospitality suits skiers of all abilities and ages in just the right way.
Old town & fun Bansko's history comes to life in the old town. Worth visiting are the dark, peaceful Sveta Troitsa Church with its 30m (98ft) high clock tower built in 1835, and the Icon Museum, which houses works by local 19th-century painters. Dotted around the town are a large number of mehanas - the wonderful traditional eating houses, where fine local wine and sometimes live folk music (in busy seasons) accompany hearty Bulgarian food.
Ski runs: The perfectly prepared and efficiently secured ski runs are stretched over 70 km. 25 km of modern high-capacity lift infrastructure stands for comfort and minimal waiting times. Enjoy every one of the total of 70 km of perfectly prepared and efficiently secured ski runs. Difficulty scale distribution is as follows: 30% Beginners, 45% Advanced and 35% Expert. The winter resort is located just above the colorful town of Bansko 12 km into the picturesque Pirin Mountain. The geographical location high in the mountain and the technical capability of the resort with its more than 160 snow cannons secure snow coverage from December to May.

DOBRINISTE

According to legends and song, between 6th and 15th century Dobrinishte was a Bulgarian stronghold which halted the Byzantines from invading the country from the valley of the Mesta River.
It is located 6 km east of Bansko, a famous winter resort. It has an altitude of 850 m and is surrounded by the Rila, Pirin, and Rhodope mountains. Dobrinishte offers good conditions for both winter and summer tourism: beautiful nature, hospitable population, ski runs, hot mineral springs and opportunities for ecotourism.
The village is a famous spa resort with 17 mineral springs with temperatures of 30-43°C. The water is used to cure different diseases.
Dobrinishte is also a terminal station of the scenic Septemvri-Dobrinishte narrow gauge line from Septemvri (on the Sofia-Plovdiv line).

BEZBOG HUT

Bezbog Hut sits at 7347 ft (2240 m) above sea level on the banks of Bezbog Lake and is one of the newest and most modern huts in Pirin. It is actually the 2nd structure built in the immediate area, since the 1st was destroyed by an avalanche in 1971. The very next year construction began on the modern new Bezbog Hut, in the form we know it today.
Bezbog Hut has a capacity of 146 across 5 stories. Rooms have 3, 4 and 8 beds, as well as single apartments. Each floor has shared bathrooms. There is also a TV in the hut. Heating consists of local radiator heaters. The hut has electricity and running water. There is a restaurant, cafe, convenience store, kids' playroom, video system, TV, ski racks. Near the hut there is also a sports enclosure.
Skiing is allowed. The area of the hut is avalanche-safe. A chair ski lift starts from Gotse Delchev Hut and leads to Bezbog Hut. Bezbog Hut is easy to reach using the lift.

DOBARSKO

Again after 17 km you will reach Dobarsko village.According to the legend, Dobarsko was founded by soldiers from Bulgarian tsar Samuil's blinded army after the Battle of Belasitsa in 1014, who arrived in the area en route to the Rila Monastery and discovered a holy spring that allegedly cured them. Dobarsko is first mentioned in Tsar Ivan Shishman's donor's charter from the Rila Monastery in 1378.
During the Ottoman rule of Bulgaria Dobarsko established itself as the most important and richest village in the Razlog Valley. Many of the locals were merchants who bought cotton from Northern Greece and sold it in Central Europe and grazed large herds of cattle in the mountains and the plains around Drama and Serres. However, Dobarsko began to lose its former importance in the late 18th century, as Bansko rose to become the centre of the region.
Dobarsko is known for its 25-metre waterfall, Shtrokaloto, its two old Eastern Orthodox churches and the many consecrated grounds and chapels in the area, as well as the view of three of Bulgaria's highest and largest mountains from the village.

BELITSA

Dancing Bears Park Belitsa is the largest of FOUR PAWS’ bear sanctuaries and the largest bear conservation area of its type in Europe. The sanctuary is near the town of Belitsa in South West Bulgaria. It is located in the Rila mountain range about 170 km south-east of Sofia and covers over 120,000 square metres.
It is home to 25 rescued bears, 20 of which used to be dancing bears.
The Belitsa sanctuary has become a popular tourist attraction with local travel agencies organising tours. It is a fantastic day out for people who want to learn more about rescued bears and see them in their natural habitat. We run hourly expert guided tours so you can learn about how the bears live and ask questions. The sanctuary is also near the famous Rila Monastery, which is regarded as a key tourist attraction in Bulgaria.
“The park is just beautiful. The bears languish in lush green woods, with a river and pool in each enclosure. Food is put out for them as part of an enrichment program to keep them busy during the day. Seeing them sleeping in the sun, playing in the water and being free from pain and torture was incredibly moving. We are determined to return to Belitsa to visit "our bears". FOUR PAWS really are fantastic, such amazing work". Sue , UK

RAZLOG

Razlog is a town with rich cultural traditions and customs kept through the centuries with the spirit of original Bulgarian values.
Two of the most significant folklore events in Bulgaria are organized and held in Razlog. These are the New Year's Kukeri holidays and the gathering for folk art "Pirin sings". These events offer an unforgettable experience for the multiple participants, as well as for the thousands of visitors.
Proof for the original kukeri traditions is the insignia of honour, given to the municipality of Razlog by Henri Van der Kroon, president of the International Federation of European and Mediterranean carnival towns in May 2004. As a member of this federation, the kukeri groups from the municipality of Razlog regularly participate in the events organised by it.
Unique is the gathering for folk art "Pirin songs", which is visited on a mass scale and takes one of the leading positions in organization and artistic organization. The gathering in the "Yavorov" hut has become tradition in the recent years. The hut is one of the most visited locations in the Pirin mountain. It was built 72 years ago and during the summer season it turns out to be small for numerous tourists. Interests for the tourists are local "valevitsi, craftsmen's shops and culinary art of Razlog with the scent of the "kapama", "chumlek", "church's beans", "sugrena banitsa", etc. Of great interest are also the Easter and Christmas holiday, religious and general life customs, such as Todor's day (horse race), Voditsi (celebration of Yordan's day with throwing of a cross into water), Grandmother's day, Proshki, etc.
